February 13, 2020
We invite you to get to know Staff Accountant, Erin! Learn what she does on and off the clock, and how she contributes to making Summersgill CPA great!
What are your responsibilities at Summersgill CPA?
I serve as our client's total accounting resource for their business - payroll, bill pay, financials, tax returns - whatever they need! My background is in tax and I actually really love it!
What do you like best about working for Summersgill CPA?
I enjoy working with local businesses in the community where I grew up and am familiar with. Also, doing the full range of accounting for our clients not only allows me to grow professionally and see what really goes into running a business, but it also gives me the opportunity to get to know our clients and make a genuine connection with them.
Favorite vacation spot:
Yosemite...It's a breathtakingly beautiful place where nature makes the rules and offers the most challenging and rewarding hiking I've ever done.
What is the last book you read?
Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Yance – a very thought-provoking social commentary and memoir that I highly recommend.
What are the top three highlights of your life to date?
- Becoming a mother last year to the most special little girl, Marais (pronounced "Ma-ray" - it's French!)
- Marrying the best man, I've ever met (and also the best cook, too!)
- Adopting my dog, Jax, in college. We really grew up together and she's my soul girl.
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
I think society places a lot of emphasis on being pretty and wealthy, but I'd tell myself that being smart and being kind pays much higher dividends in life. Also, it's much more important to be your own person than it is to follow the herd - stay true to yourself, always.
People would be surprised to know:
I haven't eaten meat in 16 years - but bring on the seafood!
